In the design
Zone 6a is the northern edge. Buy a tree grown for this climate. Fruit is astringent until soft and frosted. Male and female flowers are on separate trees unless the tag says otherwise.

Soft, fully ripe fruit from a tree you planted, after frost.
Unripe fruit is not worth eating. Leaves are not food.
